Spitzer Indicted, Likely to Resign?

Schadenfreude squared!

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been linked to a prostitution ring, the New York Times is reporting on its Web site. He is not expected to continue his term, multiple sources in the state Legislature tell CBS 2, setting off one of the largest scandals in modern New York state political history.

During a news conference Monday afternoon, Spitzer apologized to his family and public, but did not go as far as to explain why. "I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family," he said in a brief statement along side his wife.

If he does in fact resign, Lt. Gov. David Paterson would be expected to take over as governor.
